FlyQuest’s roster this year is loaded with rookies. The ceiling on this team is unknown, but sitting down with their new support Cryogen made it clear why the organization is betting big on young talent. His rapid rise through the ACL, his consistency in a league that was full of the best of NACL, and the confidence he brings stepping into the LCS paint the picture of a rookie who already understands the pressure ahead of him. We touched on just about everything fans are wondering, so read ahead and find out more about Cryogen.
Question 1: Why did Cryogen Go Pro?
MNBrady:
“When did you decide you wanted to go pro?“
Cryogen:
“I didn’t really know I wanted to go pro till about a year ago. I was in junior year and didn’t know what I wanted to do, and I thought about the possibilities. I have been playing League since I was six years old and always been competitive, so I decided to go all in on playing pro.”
Question 2: How it Feels to Win a Championship
MNBrady:
“This year in the ACL, you won the summer playoffs being one of the favorite players of that tournament. How did it feel to win that championship?“
Cryogen:
“It felt really nice. I didn’t get a spot in the NACL, and the ACL this year was full of NACL players which was very fun to play against. We didn’t go into the split thinking we were going to win it all, but we did which made it feel that much better. I got to prove myself against the NACL teams.”
Question 3: Differences Between LCS and NACL
MNBrady
“A lot of Tier 2 players talk about a tempo gap when they first scrim LCS teams. Based on your experience, how big is that gap between Tier 2 and LCS.“
Cryogen
“I agree with them. A lot of LCS teams are faster in their decision making and quicker to punish your mistakes. The hugest difference between the NACL and LCS is wasting time on the map after a good play or a kill. They are always that much quicker.“
Question 4: Filling in Busio’s Shoes
MNBrady:
“Support has been one of NA’s thinnest talent pools recently, especially after the departures of players like Busio. Do you feel added pressure stepping in as one of the highest rated rookies?“
Cryogen:
“Most of the pressure comes from filling in the shoes of Busio and living up to what he was offering when he was on FlyQuest. There is also pressure on the team as a whole since we are all rookies this split, and people tend to underrate younger or less experienced teams.
Question 5: Matching the 2025 FlyQuest Roster
MNBrady
“With the success of the FlyQuest 2024/2025 Roster, do you think that this year’s roster will match that success?“
Cryogen:
“As long as we work hard and have trust in each other I think we are going to have really good results. There is going to be learning curve, and we are going to have to get comfortable with each other. There is some anxiousness on playing on stage, but I think it is going to change as it goes.”
Question 6: What He Wants You to Know
MNBrady:
“Many LCS viewers didn’t follow your ACL journey and only know you as “the new FlyQuest rookie.” If you could highlight one thing from your ACL grind that truly defines you as a player, what would it be?“
Cryogen:
“My champ pool. I have a very broad champ pool. I would say my mechanics have always been very good. This is all just from putting games up in solo queue. Even for a pro: If you want to get better, or learn a new champ, you need to get reps and practice overall.”
Question 7: What a Successful Rookie Split is
MNBrady:
“FlyQuest has been investing heavily in young talent, and you’re arriving at a moment where there is a lot of questions of the amount of rookies they are fielding. What does a successful rookie split look like for you personally?“
Cryogen:
“Honestly, as long as I can show a good rookie performance, I would call that successful. Most rookies go in not having the best split, but so long as you don’t let that get to you and you use it as a learning experience you will be very successful.”
Question 8: FlyQuest’s Team Atmosphere
MNBrady:
“What does the team atmosphere at FlyQuest look like so far?“
Cryogen:
“So far the only teammate I have really talked to is Massu. He is a very chill guy, and is really nice once you get to know him. He is always willing to listen and help out when you need him. He is a really relatable person, and he has really good vibes. I am looking forward to play with him.”
Question 9: FlyQuest’s Offer and Busio’s Departure
MNBrady:
“Getting promoted had to have been an amazing moment for you. Was the offer out of the blue or were you expecting an offer for this 2026 season.“
Cryogen:
“It was really out of the blue. Busio going to Karmine Corp was unexpected for me and what looked like FlyQuest as well. I was not expecting at all to be in the LCS this year. I was for sure expecting to play in Tier 2 for one more year, but you need to take opportunities as they come.”
Question 10: Who is Ready to Promote?
MNBrady:
“Out of all the players in the ACL and NACL, are there any you think are ready to promote?“
Cryogen:
“KyRa, Toasty, Sajed, and Zyko. I think all of these guys are ready for Tier 2. Horder is close to being ready as well. These guys all play at a really high level”
Cryogen is coming in as an incredibly talented and hungry player. He decided he wanted to be a pro, and he put in the hard work and effort to make that happen in just a year. He dominated the ACL, and got into everybody’s heads as the next support for NA.
